A warm welcome awaits you at Hawk House, our family run Bed and Breakfast that offers hotel quality accommodation and facilities. We aim to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible. There are some features of our guest accommodation that people with limited mobility would find difficult. We have four ground floor bedrooms and two first floor bedrooms, all of which are en-suite.
We are located on the A303 next to the turning for RNAS Yeovilton, two miles from both Sparkford and Podimore roundabouts. Hawk House is not served by a local bus service.
Yeovil Junction train station is approximately 9 miles away and is located just outside of Yeovil in Stoford. Penn Mill train station is 7.5 miles away and is located close to Yeovil town centre.
There are local taxi firms that service the area.
There are no shops local to Camel Cross. There are some village shops situated in Queen Camel (2 miles away) and Ilchester (3 miles away). There are ATMs available at Sparkford garage (2 miles to the east) and Ilchester garage. Yeovil and Street offer a larger variety of shops.
There is plenty of parking both at the front and the rear. To the front of Hawk House there is a tarmac parking area and the rear parking area is laid with gravel. Assistance with luggage is available.
Front and rear entrances
A paved ramp leads into the large front porch and to the front door where there is a small step into the hall. The rear entrance is accessed from the rear car park where a small open porch protects the entrance from weather. Again, there is a small step to the front door. All hallways have short pile fitted carpet.
Breakfast is served in Wayne's Bar & Bistro attached to Hawk House. Access is at ground floor level and the floor of the Bistro is tiled. The breakfast tables are separate and are 30 inches high; the chairs have no arms. A menu with larger print is available upon request.
The Guest Lounge
The guest lounge is accessed from the hall and has a television with freeview along with a selection of books and games.
Ground Floor Bedrooms
Bedrooms 1 to 4 are all situated on the ground floor. They are all double bedrooms that have a hospitality tray and flat screen television with integrated DVD player. All bedside alarm clocks have cd players and radios. All the rooms also have a hair dryer and fan. Each en-suite is furnished with a low level suite, wash basin and electric shower. All bedrooms have fitted short pile carpets.
The first floor is accessed by an external staircase with a handrail. There are one double and one twin room on this floor and both have the same facilities as the bedrooms on the ground floor. First floor rooms would be difficult to access by people with limited mobility.
We are a no smoking establishment and ashtrays have been provided in designated outside areas for those guests who wish to smoke.
We are happy to store medication in our fridge.
Mobile phone reception is usually good, however we have also provided a public telephone in the Guest Lounge.
WiFi is available free of charge for those requiring access to the internet.
There is a roof terrace for guest use accessed through patio doors in the first floor sitting room, there is a small step up to the door. The terrace is equipped with tables and chairs and provides guests with great views of the surrounding area.
